Spatial Collage
Atlanta, Georgia

-
An internal scan of the human body was enlarged and becomes part of an external passage. The scanned image is digitally printed onto a surface of acrylic creating areas of pixels varying in density and areas of transparency. Sunlight activates the piece changing the shadow patterns at different times of day. The surface is supported and lifted by an undulating wood frame. The regularity of the constructed intervals of the frame plays as a counterpoint to the irregular image of the surface. The frame is suspended within the steel structure of the porch. The works adds decontextualized, constructed layers to existing site layers to form a spatial collage. This collage can be walked through and engaged experientially.
